Thailand '08 - Chaktuchak, Bangkok

For day 3, we just stayed in Bangkok city. We decided to go Chaktuchak - weekend market. We went there by BTS Sky Train from Nana Station and arrive at Chatuchak Station.

Those who love shopping, for sure you will spend alot money in this market. You can find clothing, jewellery, handicrafts, antiques, ceramics, pets, vintage magazines / stamps / coins, collector's items, knick-knacks and just about anything and everything else one could want from a Thai market, or any market.

Open: 08:00 - 18:00 on weekends and Fridays (wholesale day). Plant shops are open Wednesdays and Thursdays too from 07:00 - 18:00.

Bangkok, Pattaya - Hotel Info

This post is to share the accomodation where we stayed in Bangkok and Pattaya.

Bangkok - Suk 11 Hostel
It located at Sukhumvit Road, very convenient spot. Reasonable price for the hotel fares, THB 800 - 900 per night only. Don't forget it located at the most happening area in Bangkok.

Breakfast included (Coffee, tea and bread served)

My frens were quite worry at the 1st day, they said this hostel looked haunted. But on the day we checked out, their comments totally 100% changed. They said its a unique place to stay in hostel. If there is a chance, they will come back again.

Pattaya - Sunshine Hotel
Its located at Central of Pattaya, near to the beach and all the clubbing area. Room fares per night is THB800-900. I booked it through AsiaRooms, it offers cheaper rate than booked via Sunshines website.

Bangkok - Baiyoke Sky Hotel (Most luxury hotel that we stayed during the trip)

First, thanks James for using his Berjaya Member card to book this hotel at the cheapest rate. Also thanks for sponsor me stay 1 nite free as my year 2008 birthday's gift.

It located at Pratunam - whole sales market area. You can easily find food and shop at this area whithout travel out. Baiyoke Sky is the tallest building in Bangkok, the most ideal place for Bangkok night view. Holding a cup of coffee or beer, sitting in the roof top bar, chit-chatting with friends, listen to the live band, also seen the Bangkok night view... huh... damnnnnnnn nice laaaa...!!!!

Oh ya! The fare per night is THB1750 (Berjaya Member, if i not mistaken). If for non-member, i heard the price now goes up to THB3000++. Breakfast included.

Besides, as i mentioned its a convenient place for you to shop. You can also shop at those major shopping center like MBK, Central World Plaza, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery and etc by walking distance. If you are lazy to walk, hotel provides FREE shuttle van for residents to those shopping complexs.

Bangkok Trip - July 2008

Thanks for the Uncle Chen (Taxi Driver) who drive us around... He really helped us aloooot while we are in Bangkok. Nice uncle and reasonable price he offered to us. He is very soft spoken and kind uncle, most of the time he become our transalator in Bangkok.

Himself and also his Toyota Vios Taxi.

Trip itinerary:

Day 1 - Arrival Bangkok > Suk11 Hotel

Day 2 - Floating Market > Kanchanapuri River Kwai & Tiger Temple > Nakhon Pakthom > Bangkok

Day 3 - Chaktuchak Market > Grand Palace > Wat Po > Wat Arun > Suan Lum Night Bazaar

Day 4 - Chonburi 哪咤庙 > Siam Temple (not sure the name) > Pattaya Nong Nooch Tropical Garden > Pattaya Sunshine Hotel

Day 5 - Pattaya Mini Siam > Bangkok Baiyoke Sky Hotel > Chinatown > Khao San Road > Tawandang Brew House (German Restaurant)

Day 6 - Ayutthaya > Pratunam Whole Sale Market > Baiyoke Sky Hotel (Night view)

Day 7 - Pratunam Whole Sale Market > Airport > KL

It was fun but abit rush because travel to so many places.. hehe :D

There is "pasar malam" around the temple, alot of food stalls. We found out a "Kung-Fu Wong Fei Hung" ice-cream stall there. Uncle Chen told us, the tv program interviewed the Wong Fei Hung before. Interesting ~~
